Bersa’s story began in 1958 when three Italian engineers—Benso Bonadimani, Ercole Montini, and Savino Caselli—joined forces in Argentina to create a firearms company that would blend European design principles with local manufacturing expertise. Initially producing parts for other manufacturers, Bersa quickly moved to develop its own pistols, launching the Model 60 in 1959, a .22 LR handgun inspired by Beretta designs. The company’s name, Bersa, is a tribute to its founders, combining the first letters of their names. Overcoming the challenges of a competitive market and limited resources, Bersa steadily expanded its product line and reputation, introducing the Thunder series in the 1990s, which became a staple for both civilian and official use. Major milestones include securing contracts with the Argentine Armed Forces and Federal Police, and more recently, expanding into AR-style rifles and establishing a manufacturing presence in the United States.
